Johann Karl Nestler

Johann Karl Nestler ( born December 16, 1783 in Würbenthal (Austrian Silesia ); † July 9, 1841 in Olomouc ( Moravia ) ) was an Austrian agronomist.

Life and work

Nestler studied since 1800, philosophy, theology and jurisprudence at the Lyceum in Olomouc and was after several years working as an educator from 1812 director of a high-school education and teaching institute in Klafterbrunn. From 1818 to 1820, he served an apprenticeship on arable farms, from 1821 he studied agriculture at the University of Vienna. In 1821 he got a job there as an adjunct to the chair of agricultural colleges. From 1823 until his death he was professor of agricultural education at the secondary school in Olomouc, which was in 1828 (again) the status of university.

Nestler was an active member of the "kk Moravian-Silesian Society for the promotion of agriculture, nature and geography in Brno " in their newsletter he published numerous articles. With these releases, and several independent works he attracted considerable attention in the professional world. Nestler was a member of many other agricultural and scientific societies. In 1840 he organized the annual at a different location since 1837 " Meeting of the German agricultural and forest keepers " in Brno and published the official meeting report.

Science Historically noteworthy to occupy his post "New old-time " (Vol. 20, 1831, pp. 71-72 ), in which he exhorted his compatriots strongly with the history of agriculture.
