Johann Lamont

Johann Lamont ( born July 11, 1957 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Lamont comes from a Gaelic-speaking family whose roots lie on the Hebridean island of Tiree. She attended the Woodside Secondary School in Glasgow and then went to Glasgow University, which she left with a master's degree. At Jordanhill College of Education Lamont gained their educational qualification and then worked as a teacher of English and history at the Castlemilk High School, Rothesay Academy and Springburn Academy in the following 20 years. Lamont is married and mother of two. She lives with her ​​husband in Glasgow.

Scottish Parliament

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Lamont candidate for the constituency of Glasgow Pollok and won the mandate with a clear lead over the SNP candidate Kenneth Gibson. As a result, they moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the parliamentary elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011 Lamont defended her constituency.
