Johann Leopold Theodor Friedrich Zincken
Julius Leopold Theodor Friedrich Zincken ( called summer) ( born April 15, 1770 in Braunschweig, † February 8, 1856 ibid ) was a PhD doctor, both dental and doctors of medicine, Herzoglich Braunschweigischer Hofmedicus and entomologist.
Life and work
Julius Leopold Theodor Friedrich Zincken was the only son from the first marriage of Auditeurs and Fiskals in the service of the Duke of Braunschweig Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Zincken born with Sophie racket, daughter of Brunswick city surgeons. His father took over as Generalauditeur with the Brunswick troops from 1776 to 1781 in the fight against the American Revolution in part; after his return, the marriage ended in divorce and Sophie married in February 1782 the Brunswick Hofmedicus and Head of the Ducal hospital, Councillor Johann Christoph Sommer ( 1740-1802 ). At the time of his studies, on 13 April 1791 Zincken was adopted by his stepfather; it gave him the additional name " called summer ".
Zincken, then called Zincken summer, studied medicine at the University of Göttingen and received his doctorate in 1794. As Herzoglich Braunschweigischer Hofmedicus he corresponded with leading scientists throughout Europe and was a member of the Imperial Leopoldinisch - Carolinischen German Academy of Natural Scientists in Halle (now Leopoldina ), the Society Nature Research- friends to Berlin, the Grand Ducal Mineralogical Societät to Jena and other natural inquisitive companies in Halle, Jena, Emden and Edinburgh.
Lasting made Zincken called summer primarily as an entomologist. On him go back numerous names of species of insects, such as the body of the gray lichens Barchen ( Eilema lurideola ).
Between 1813 and 1821 gave Zincken called summer together with Ernst Friedrich Germar the magazine out of entomology.
From the marriage of his son Otto Gustav ( born March 28, 1809 † January 9, 1840 ) with Nanny Langenheim, daughter of the Brunswick lawyer and notary Friedrich Wilhelm Lange Home, the mathematician and composer Hans Sommer came out ( 1837-1922 ).
