Johann Leopold Zillmann

Johann Leopold Zillmann (* 1813 in Neu-Ulm, † 1892) was a German missionary in Australia.

Born in Neu-Ulm and blacksmith by trade, he joined the Zion Hill Mission by Carl Wilhelm Schmidt, and Christopher Eipper. He arrived in Moreton Bay in 1841 with his wife Clara (born 1817), a Berlin teacher, at. After the mission was closed, Zillmann remained in the area and turned to agriculture.

The Zion Hill Mission is now the district of Nundah Brisbane. The Brisbane Zillmere district was named after Zillmann, as well as the Zillman Waterholes and Zillman Road in Brisbane.
