Johann Lorenz Bach

Johann Lorenz Bach ( born September 10, 1695 in Schweinfurt, † December 14, 1773 in Lahm ) was a German composer of the Frankish line of the Bach family.

Life

Johann Lorenz Bach was musically trained by his father Johann Valentin Bach and 1713-1717 in Weimar by Johann Sebastian Bach. From 1718 until his death he was choirmaster, organist and schoolmaster Lichtenstein in the Free Gorgeous residence in Itzgrund Lahm ( near Coburg ).

In the castle church still stands the organ, which he played over forty years: a largely original preserved instrument of the organ builder Heinrich autumn of Halberstadt from 1732 with 29 speaking stops on two manuals and pedal lush occupied.

Except for a Prelude and Fugue in D major works by Johann Lorenz Bach are lost. A copy of the Prelude there are in the parish archive Lahm / Itzgrund. The Fugue in D major is in anthologies (eg Knights ' history of organ playing ' Band 2) present. There she is, however, to see Johann Bernhard Bach.
