Johann Michael Hahn

Johann Michael Hahn ( born February 2, 1758 in Altdorf in Boeblingen, † January 20, 1819 in Are Lingen, today Jettingen in Herrenberg ) was Swabian Pietist and founder of the Hahn'schen community. His supposed first name of "John" does not appear on the birth certificate.

Life

Michael Hahn was born the son of a farmer and learned the butcher's trade. As a young man he experienced a conversion and joined the Pietists on. He received important impulses by staying on the Hof bei Ihinger Renningen, a center of separatism ( Radical Pietism ). In several " central look " spiritual visionary experiences, of which he had the first at the age of twenty years, the foundations of his theology were laid. Michael Hahn represented the doctrine of apokatastasis panton, named in Württemberg general " restoration of all things." Then the pains of hell for the damned take long though, but not infinite (see below). How long time most of the leading members of the community Hahn'schen remained Hahn himself unmarried.

Michael Hahn lived from 1794 as a farmer in Sindlingen in Herrenberg. Here he was under the protection of the Duchess Franziska von Württemberg ( Franziska von Hohenheim), after he was pursued by the national church because of his views. Many people flocked to him, to hear his Bible interpretations. Thus formed around him gradually, after his death, named after him community that preserves and continues to cultivate his writings and songs. From 1803 on, he was able to devote himself entirely to his theological and pastoral work.

Michael Hahn was provided as the first head of which was founded in 1819 pietistic settlement Korntal, but died before the foundation of this community. He is the Author of the text of the hymns of Jesus, friend of your soul (EC 560) and Lord, let me be your sanctification (EC 634 Wuerttemberg). His grave is located in Sindlingen in Herrenberg.

The doctrine of the " restoration of all things " in Michael Hahn

Often criticism from other Christians practiced on the argument advanced by Michael Hahn and named after him doctrine of community of " restoration of all things " ( Apokatastasis panton; " universal reconciliation "). This doctrine is contrary to Article 17 of the Augsburg Confession, a Lutheran confession. In the book " The Hahnsche community - its formation and developments since then " from 1877 they will be explained in a way that is still the case today represented by the Hahn'schen Community:

" The doctrine of the restoration of all things is a doctrine that states that all reasonable creatures, especially so the fallen men and angels, are though to a large extent, eventually voluntarily bow after recovering from severe courts under the scepter of Jesus Christ that, as in Adam all - without exception - are dying, so also in Christ shall all - will be brought to life and THEREFORE God really all going to be in all last " - without exception.
