Johann Nepomuk von Ringseis

Johann Nepomuk von Ringseis ( born May 16, 1785 Schwarzhofen (Oberpfalz ), † May 22, 1880 in Munich) was a physician and professor in Munich.

Ringseis, who had nine younger siblings went to the Cistercian convent school in forest Erbach, graduated from high school in 1797 in Amberg, and studied medicine from 1805 to 1812 at the University of Landshut. He was receiver of Karl Friedrich Schimper and met Johann Michael Sailer and Friedrich Karl von Savigny and know the brothers Clemens and Bettina Brentano.

After his graduation, he went on a four -year study trip to Vienna (1812 /13), Berlin and Paris (1814 /15) settled in 1817 as chief physician at the Munich General Hospital, where he was confidant of Crown Prince Ludwig. As his personal physician, he was allowed to accompany him on three trips Italy ( 1817-24 ). 1818 appointed Ludwig Ringseis the medical officer of the Isar circle in 1824 as an associate member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, and in 1826 professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Munich.
