Johann Niemann

Johann Niemann (* August 4, 1913 in Völlen, † October 14, 1943 in Sobibor extermination camp ) was a German SS -Untersturmführer member of the camp staff in the extermination camp Sobibor.

Life

Niemann, a painter by profession, in 1931 a member of the Nazi party ( Mitgliedsnr. 753 836 ) and also joined the SS ( 270,600 Mitgliedsnr. ) at. Between 1934 and 1941 he was employed in Esterwegen and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He then worked as part of the "Action T4 " as a corpse burner in the Nazi killing center Bernburg. As part of the " Operation Reinhardt" then was an insert in the Belzec extermination camp, until he was permanently transferred to the Sobibor extermination camp. There he had temporarily held the position of duty camp commander.

Niemann came after a horseback ride on time on 14 October 1943, a fitting his uniform in the tailor and was killed as the first SS man during the rebellion of Sobibor by the prisoner Arkady Schubajew with two slashing blows.
