Johann Philipp Christian Schulz

Johann Philipp Christian Schulz ( * September 24, 1773 in Long Salza, † January 30, 1827 in Leipzig ) was a German composer and served from 1810 to 1827 as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

Life

Schulz went to the Leipzig Thomas School, where he also received his musical training, including by the former cantor of St. Thomas and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra Johann Gottfried layer.

From 1800 he conducted the orchestra of Franz Seconda'schen society. In 1810 he was Coating successor at the Gewandhaus and remained there until his death in this office.

Work

As a composer, wrote Schulz et al overtures, interludes, choruses, songs, romances and marches to plays, about to " The Maid of Orleans ", " Faust" and "Wallenstein". In addition, he created Canzonettas, Jägerlieder with horns accompaniment and set to music some folk songs.
