Johann Traugott Leberecht Danz

Johann Traugott Leberecht Danz ( born May 31, 1769 in Weimar, † May 15, 1851 in Jena; pseudonym: Johann Adolph vines Stock ) was a German Lutheran church historian and theologian.

Life

Johann Traugott Leberecht Danz was born on 31 May of the year 1769 in Weimar, the son of a schoolteacher. He attended a high school in his hometown and studied from 1787 at the University of Jena. He was particularly encouraged by Johann Gottfried Herder. In 1791 he continued his studies at the University of Göttingen. He then taught at the Wilhelm -Ernst -Gymnasium in Weimar and the school teacher seminar.

1798 John Danz rector of the city council and school in Jena ( this point was mediated by Herder ) and in 1804 lecturer. Deacon at the local town church he was in 1809. The next year he became an associate professor of theology and worked as a professor at the University of Jena in 1812 to 1837.

On May 15, 1851 died Johann Traugott Leberecht Danz, who until then had still lived in Jena. His son Heinrich Aemilius August Danz worked as a legal scholar.
