Johann Vogel ( born March 8, 1977 in Geneva ) is a former Swiss football player.

Career

Association

Johann Vogel is a defensive midfielder. His career breakthrough succeeded at Grasshopper Club Zurich. In 2005, he took his leave by winning the Dutch Cup and the Amstel Cup from PSV Eindhoven moved to the top Italian club AC Milan.

Due to a lack of match practice, he finally decided in 2006 after just one season for sporting reasons for a move to Spain, where he wore the shirt of Betis Sevilla. In Seville he was not, as previously assigned the shirt number 14 at PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan, but the number 16 on December 27, 2007 was the Betis " amicable separation " of bird known. Johann Vogel graduated 94 caps for the Swiss national football team and participated in the 1996 European Championships, the 2004 European Championships and the 2006 World Cup.

By 8 March 2007, he was captain of the Swiss national football team. For the EM- up matches in the U.S. in late March 2007, he was not summoned by the then national coach Kobi Kuhn.

Johann Vogel is married and father of four children. He speaks German, English, Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch.
