Johann von Hinrichs

Baron Johann Hinrichs (* 1752 in Hamburg, † November 15, 1834 in Stargard, Pommern ) was a German officer and royal Prussian major general.

Hinrichs began his military career in the American War of Independence. In 1780 he entered the Prussian military service. He became commander of the Fusilier Battalion " of Hinrichs ' No. 17 of the West Prussian Füsilierbrigade. It was in Łowicz, the new Prussian province of South Prussia in garrison since 1795. Later, the battalion was part of the 1st Warsaw Füsilierbrigade.

In 1813 he took over the 6th Landwehr Brigade of the 11th Prussian Army Corps and freed the fortress Kuestrin. He was appointed commander of the fort and was awarded the Iron Cross. In 1815 he retired from active service.

Honors

In Kuestrin memorial stone was erected in honor of his liberation from French occupation of the General Johann Hinrichs.
