Johann Wilhelm Ernst Sommer

Johann Wilhelm Ernst Sommer ( born March 31, 1881 in Stuttgart, † October 15, 1952 in Zurich ) was a bishop of the United Methodist Church ( UMC ) in Germany.

Life

Johann Wilhelm Ernst Sommer was the son of the preacher Johann Jakob summer (1850-1925) and his English wife Zillah Elizabeth nee Barratt ( 1848-1935 ). Summer was the son afterwards became Bishop Jakob Karl Ernst summer.

Episcopate

In 1946, Johann Wilhelm Ernst Sommer elected as successor of Friedrich Heinrich Otto Melle bishop of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Germany.

In his capacity as bishop summer was of the Methodist Church in Germany ( 56,000 Methodists ) at the World Methodist Council. To the World Methodist Council Methodist churches are 76 in 132 countries, with a total of about 70 million people. Methodism is one of the world's major Protestant denominations.
