Johannes Abezier

John Abezier (* around 1375 in Thorn, † February 11, 1424 in Salvation Mountain ) was a theologian and Prince-Bishop of Warmia in the 15th century.

Life

John was born in Thorn, Kulmerland in Prussia and studied theology at the University of Prague. 1398 he was admitted to the baccalaureate and then enrolled at the Faculty of Law with the heading national Polonorum ( " Polish nation " ), to the East German students ( from Silesia and Prussia) since the disputes and division of the University of Prague were registered.

1401 put Abezier from the master's examination and was later Doctor Decretorum and Auditor Rotae. 1411 it is occupied as provost to Mrs. Castle in Warmia. In this capacity he took in 1412 at an embassy of the Teutonic Order on the furnace part that a dispute between the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Poland was to be settled by mediation of the Emperor Sigismund.

1415 John traveled as an emissary of the Prussian bishops and prelates, together with the Riga Archbishop John of Wallenrode to the Council of Constance. In the same year John was elevated to bishop of Warmia. On October 13, 1418, he participated in negotiations between the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Poland in Wileny. As Bishop of Warmia, he is attested until 1424.
