Life and work

Acronius was born the son of a pastor. He attended the Latin school in Emden and from 1582 studied Protestant theology in Neustadt an der Haardt. 1584 he put his degree from the Community before the preacher in the Official Greetsiel and worked as a pastor in Eilsum. In 1601 he was appointed to Groningen. In 1602 he was elected as Church President, 1611, he moved to Wesel. Before the Spanish troops, he fled in 1614 to Deventer. On April 4, 1617, he was appointed professor of theology to Franeker. In 1619 he moved to Haarlem, where he died in 1627.

Acronius went through its share of the dispute between Arminians or Remonstrants and Contraremonstranten a name. He was considered noncompliant for dissidents inside and outside the church and as the guardian of God's laws.
