Johannes Bernardus van Bree

Johannes Bernardus van Bree ( born January 29, 1801 in Amsterdam, † February 14, 1857 ) was a Dutch composer of the Romantic period.

It was the beginning of the 19th century as one of the most talented musicians in the Netherlands. First, van Bree was a soloist successfully as a violinist, but later became conductor of Felix Meritis ', the, predecessor ' of the Concertgebouw. His music was oriented slightly to the German composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Louis Spohr and the lighter French style of Hector Berlioz and François -Adrien Boieldieu. During the Belgian Revolution of 1830 he wrote a series of patriotic songs, the ' earned him the title, national composer.

Van Bree composed numerous fairs, cantatas, two operas, two symphonies, four overtures, four string quartets, marches for wind orchestra, piano pieces and many other arrangements.
