Johannes Fritzsch

Johannes Fritzsch ( born 1960 in Meissen ) is a German conductor acting in Australia, who was also musical director at the opera house in Graz last until 2013.

Life and work

Fritzsch was born the son of a cantor and organist. He attended the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden and studied conducting, piano and trumpet there.

From 1982 worked Fritzsch as second Kapellmeister at the People's Theatre in Rostock, where he in 1986, inter alia, The English Cat by Hans Werner Henze rehearsed. Then he was at the Semperoper to 1992 Kapellmeister. From 1992 to 1993 he was principal conductor at the Staatsoper Hannover. From 1993 to 1999 he worked as a music director and chief conductor of the Municipal Theatre and the Philharmonic Orchestra in Freiburg im Breisgau. He was Music Director (GMD ) of the Nuremberg State Theatre in the season 2005 /2006. After that, he was chief conductor of the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra and the Graz Opera. For personal reasons, he finished in January 2013, this activity because his family lives in Australia.

There conducts Fritzsch The Queensland Orchestra under its chief conductor, he has since then.
