Johannes Gessner

John Gessner ( born March 18, 1709 Zurich, † May 6, 1790 ) was a Swiss naturalist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Gessner ".

Life and work

John Gessner founded in 1746, the Physical Society. 1808 changed the name to Naturalist Society in Zurich and is still known by that name. He was also a foreign member of many academies, including the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen, the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Leopoldina (since 1746 ).
