Johannes Herbert

John Herbert (* October 28, 1912; † 30 December 1978) was a German wrestler.

He began his career in Stuttgart at KV in 1895 and has already achieved its first successes as a youth, which continued on the assets at the regional level and Württemberg. In his weight class, the bantamweight (up to 56 kg body weight) the competition in Germany was with Olympic champion James Brendel, Nuremberg, Justin Gehring, Fries Home, Willi Möchel, Cologne, Hermann Fischer, Two Bridges and Ferdinand Schmitz, Cologne very large. Nevertheless, he managed to qualify for participation in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

In Berlin, he wrestled free style bantamweight. He defeated Cazaux, France, Cakiryldiz, Turkey and Laporte, Belgium, and was defeated in the finals against Herman Tuvesson, Sweden and Odon Zombori, Hungary, and thus won the bronze medal. In 1937 he was employed at the European Championships in Paris, this time in the Greco- Roman style. He triumphed over Bertoli, Italy, Abramovich, France and Sikk, Estonia, but had to retire after a narrow 2-1 defeat to point Antonín Nič, Czechoslovakia and finished 4th.

John Herbert 1938 German Vice Champion in Greco-Roman style and finished in 1935 and 1936, third places. In the free style, he finished 1935 and 1936 third places.

The war ended in 1939, the active career of John Herbert, who worked as a judge after the war for many years.
