Johannes Müller (Marburg)

Johannes Müller ( * July 10, 1880 in Merseburg, † April 19, 1964 in Marburg ) was a German mayor.

Life and work

Müller attended from 1886 to 1899, Dom -Gymnasium in Merseburg. After graduation he studied law at the universities of Jena and Halle from 1899 to 1902. During his studies, he became in 1899 a member of the fraternity Arminia on the castle cellars, where he remained until 1933. The first state examination, he laid in 1902 and the state exam from 1907. During this time he worked for the Government in Merseburg. From there moved Müller in 1907 as a councilor to Forst in Lusatia. In this position he remained until the appointment of the mayor of Marburg / Lahn 1913.

In 1933 he was removed from office because of the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service. Only in 1939 to 1945, he was able to take a permanent job at Carl Zeiss Jena. During the brief U.S. occupation, he was appointed in 1945 as treasurer and head of commercial establishments in the municipality of Jena. From there he returned in 1946 to Marburg / Lahn back. There he was in charge until 1948 in the city administration for the school departments, tax administration and Premises. From 1949 to 1954 he taught local government at the Philipps- University of Marburg.
