Johannes Schettel

John Schettel ( born April 4, 1959 in Bigge Olsberg ) is a former German luger.

Life

Schettel is the son of hoteliers ( hotel Schettel in Bigge Olsberg ). He is a trained chef and butcher with Hotel master craftsman. Schettel was in the 1980s one of the best German luger. He was four times ( 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1986) German masters. At the World Championships 1989 he won the bronze medal in singles. At the European Championships he won in 1988 in the mixed team event gold and bronze in singles. In the mixed team event followed in 1990 silver at the European Championships. In Luge World Cup, he finished second in 1986 and third in 1989. Schettel launched for the BRC Dortmund. Schettel was for many years the best of his sport until 1988 he lost that position to the second Olympics in Calgary, Georg Hackl. He finished his athletes career in 1989.

After his sports time he started his own business with his wife Claudia with a small business for sports clothing in Olsberg.
