Johannes Schmitt

John Smith ( born February 18, 1943 in Berlin, † 28 December 2003 Küssnacht ) was a German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - starting for the Federal Republic - at the European Championships in 1962 the gold medal with the German 4 x 400 -meter Season won ( 3:05,8 min, European record, John Schmitt, Wilfried Kindermann, Hans -Joachim Reske, Manfred children).

He started at the Olympic Games in 1964: With the 4 x 400 meters relay he finished fifth ( 3:04,3 min), in the 400 -meter run, he retired in the intermediate run out.

Schmitt started for the sports club ASV Köln. In his playing days, he was 1.79 m tall and weighed 67 kg.
