Johannes Vilhelm Jensen

Johannes Vilhelm Jensen ( born January 20, 1873 in Farsø, Jutland, † November 25, 1950 in Copenhagen) was a Danish writer.

Jensen's sister was the writer Maria Dorothea Kristine Jensen, better known under the name Thit Jensen.

Jensen studied medicine, but never practiced the profession of. After long journeys and stays in the USA, Great Britain and France as a journalist Jensen found his literary style and his optimism that soon became relevant for the modern Danish literature.

Influences of Walt Whitman and Rudyard Kipling are indicative of Jensen's poems. The influence of Charles Darwin flows The long journey, which describes the development of the Nordic people until the 15th century in Jensen's novel.
