John's Lane Church

The John 's Lane Church ( Irish Eaglais Lána Eoin ) - actually Saint Augustine and John the Baptist Church (Irish Eaglais San Agaistín Eoin agus Bhaiste ) - is a Catholic church in the Irish capital Dublin.

History

The construction of the neo-Gothic church was decided in 1860, during the Easter period of 1862 construction began. As an architect Edward Welby Pugin and acted George C. Ashlin. 1874, the church was consecrated. Due to the fact that there were problems with the authorities, it would take 33 years until the exterior of the church was finally completed in 1895. The construction work inside the church were completed in 1911.

Consecrated the church to St.. John the Baptist and St.. Augustine of Hippo. The church tower is 61 meters the highest in the Dublin city. Popularly the church is only after the street on which it stands, called " John 's Lane Church "
