John Adson

John Adson (c. 1587; † June 29, 1640 in London) was an English composer and cornetto.

The first information about him can be found in documents about his job at the court of Duke Charles III. of Lorraine cornetto and about his wedding in February 1614. Upon his return to London he became a member of the City Watch, in which he served until his death. 1633 he was appointed royal brass band and played to 1639 in the King's theater company.

His most famous works are the Courtly Masquing Ayres ( 1621), a collection of 31 five - or six-part dances. In addition to these dances only four other works from his pen are known.
