John Austrheim

John Austrheim ( born October 10, 1912 in Sandane, Gloppen, Sogn og Fjordane, † April 13, 1995 ) was a Norwegian business leaders and politicians of the Senterpartiet (Sp ), which, among other long-standing member of the Storting and 1967-1973 Chairman of the Sp had.

Life

Professional activities and local politicians

Austrheim, a farmer's son, was also active after the completion of school youth in Nordfjord as a farmer.

His political career began in local politics as a member of the municipal council of his native town Gloppen 1945-1951. He was also a 1947-1954 member of the council from Gloppen and from 1954 to 1956 as its chairman until he was from 1955 to 1962 mayor of Gloppen. In addition, he was 1960-1981 Chairman of the Community College of Nordfjord. For several years he was also active in the Inner Mission and was both 1949-1951 and 1955-1957 Chairman of the Inner Mission of Nordfjord and 1956-1965 Member of the Main Board of the Inner Mission Society of the Lutheran Church of Norway.

Mid-1950s, he took over some offices at the grocery firm Gartner halls where he was from 1955 to 1970 Chairman of the branch in Bergen and 1955-1969 Member of the Main Board and from 1960 to 1969 Member of the Working Committee of the Company.

Storting MP, party leader and Prime

After he was from 1958 to 1961 for the Peasants' Party ( Bondepartiet ), the predecessor of Senterpartiet, deputy member of the Storting, In 1961 he was first elected as the candidate of Sp as a deputy in the Storting and represented there until 1977, the constituency of Sogn og Fjordane.

In 1966, he became Vice Chairman of the Main Board of Den Norske Stats Husbank, a public housing development corporation, and held that office until 1982. Moreover, he was 1967-1977 Member of the State Council for Nature Conservation ( Statens naturvernråd ), which is the promotion and maintenance National parks in Norway cares.

As a successor to the incumbent Prime Minister Per braids Austrheim 1967 Chairman of the Senterpartiet and held this office six years until its replacement by Dagfinn Vårvik in 1973.

During his membership in parliament, he was briefly vice president of Odelsting, the former first chamber of the Storting from November to December 1970.

In the course of his long parliamentary membership, he served as a member of the Storting Committees on Social Affairs ( Sosialkomité ) for Municipal ( Kommunalkomité ), for elections ( Valgkomité ), Foreign and Constitutional Affairs ( Utenriks -og konstitusjonskomité ) and for industry ( Industrikomité ). He was also temporarily a member of the delegation to the Nordic Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations.

On October 1, 1969 Austrheim was to succeed Lars Leiro also the Chairman of the Group of Senterpartiet in the Storting and held that office until his replacement by former Prime Minister braids on 17 March 1971.

Prime Minister Lars Korvald appointed him on 18 October 1972 Transport Minister in his government. Austrheim belonged to this minority government formed by Senterpartiet, Kristelig Folkeparti and Venstre until the end of Korvalds term of office on 16 October 1973.
