John B. Chambers

John B. Chambers ( born 1956 ) is the Deputy Head of Sovereign Debt Ratings Group and Chairman of the Sovereign Debt Committee at Standard and Poor 's (S & P). Together with David T. Beers Chambers received worldwide attention in August 2011 for his role in the credit downgrade of U.S. sovereign debt from AAA to AA . Since 1941 the United States held the highest rating - AAA rating.

Chambers holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Philosophy from Grinnell College ( 1977 ) and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Columbia University. After five years in various positions at Banque Indosuez, he joined in 1993 at S & P a. He was Deputy Head of Sovereign Debt Ratings Group in 1997.

Critics of the U.S. downgrade have Standard and Poor's proved a miscalculation in the amount of $ 2.000 billion and noted sarcastically that the main responsible Chambers have not even studied economics.
