John B. T. Campbell III

John Bayard Taylor Campbell III ( born July 19, 1955 in Los Angeles, California) is an American politician. Since 2005 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mid-2013, he announced in 2014 not to stand for re-election and retire into private life in January 2015, with the end of the mandate.

Career

John Campbell attended Harvard High School in North Hollywood and studied at the University of California at Los Angeles and at the local University of Southern California afterwards. He then worked as a certified public accountant; later he became a car dealer. In 1985, he became CEO of Campbell Automotive Group. In the 1990s, he headed the Orange County two other companies that operated in the car trade. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. From 2000 to 2004 he was a deputy in the California State Assembly. After that he belonged until 2005 to the State Senate.

Following the resignation of Mr Christopher Cox Campbell was at the due election for the 48th seat of California as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected, in which he moved on 7 December 2005. After the previous three elections, he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. He is a member of the Budget Committee and the Finance Committee and in two sub-committees. Within the party he belongs to the Republican Study Committee. In 2009 it financially questionable transactions in connection with his campaign finance were accused, but remained without consequences.

John Campbell is married and father of two children. He and his family lived privately in Irvine.
