John Bowers (writer)
John Bowers ( born March 12, 1928 in Lenoir City, Tennessee) is an American author.
Bowers grew up in Johnson City. He studied at the University of Tennessee and received in 1951 a Bachelor of Arts (BA). In 1962, he moved to Manhattan and became a professor in the Writing Program at Columbia University. In addition, he taught for the New York State University at Stony Brook and at the Wilkes University. He was writer- in-residence at East Tennessee State University.
