John Bragg (politician)

John Bragg ( * January 14, 1806 near Warrenton, Warren County, North Carolina; † August 10, 1878 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama) was an American lawyer, judge and politician ( Democratic Party).

Career

John Bragg attended the Academy based in Warrenton and then graduated in 1824 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1830 and then began to practice in Warrenton. Bragg also pursued a political career. He was 1830-1834 Member of the House of Representatives from North Carolina. Then he moved in 1836 to Mobile ( Alabama), where he pursued his activities as a lawyer again. Bragg was in 1842 appointed a judge of the 10th Judicial District. He was also a member of the House of Representatives from Alabama. Bragg was elected to the 32th U.S. Congress. He decided in 1852 against a candidate in the 33rd U.S. Congress. Bragg worked in the U.S. House of Representatives from March 4, 1851 to March 3, 1853. Then he went back to his work as a lawyer after. It also adopted in 1861 as a delegate part in the constitutional convention of Alabama in Mobile. Bragg died 1878 in Mobile and was buried there on the Magnolia Cemetery.
