John C. Bogle

John Clifton Bogle ( born May 8, 1929 in Verona, New Jersey) is an American entrepreneur and author of books on the subject of economic investments.

Career

Bogle graduated in 1947 at the Blair Academy, before in 1951 he completed his studies in economics at Princeton University magna cum laude. Later he worked at Wellington Management, before he was terminated after an unsuccessful investment at the age of 38 years. Between 1969 and 1970, he chaired the Investment Company Institute, an association of U.S. investment companies, before and was until 1974 a member of the Board.

In 1974, the Investment Company Bogle The Vanguard Group, where he served until 2000 then headed until 1996 as Chief Executive Officer and Senior Chairman. The operating according to the principles of Index Investing company became one of the largest investment firms in the United States. Later he was president of the company's Bogle Financial Markets Research Center. From the 1990s, he appeared several times as an author in appearance, already published his 1993 debut album New Perspectives for the Intelligent Investor became a bestseller.

For his work Bogle received several awards.
