John Caldwell (Kentucky politician)

John Caldwell ( * 1757 in Prince Edward County, Virginia; † November 19, 1804 in Frankfort, Kentucky ) was an American politician. In 1804, he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

About the youth and education of John Caldwell nothing is handed down. He grew up during the British colonial era and lived through the time of the American Revolution. After the separation of Kentucky from Virginia, he was elected in 1792 in the local state Senate. Later he became a member of, founded by Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party.

1804 Caldwell was elected to the side of Christopher Greenup for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held only for a few months until his death on 19 November of the same year. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He died while he chaired a meeting of this body, of a stroke. The Caldwell County, Kentucky is named after him.
