John Callahan (cartoonist)

John Callahan ( born February 5, 1951 in Portland, Oregon; † 24 July 2010) was an American cartoonist and musician.

Callahan was known to process disability and physical shortcomings in his work on often macabre way. Since a car accident in 1972 at age 21, he was paralyzed and could not move his arms only slightly. Hence also the rough strokes of his cartoons. Some of his books have been published in German, as his autobiography, "Do not worry, not going to run away " and the collection of caricatures " You're disturbing " and "Your barn door is open".

On July 24, 2010 John Callahan died after a long battle to consequential damages surgery, at the age of 59 years.
