John Coward

John "Red" Coward ( born October 28, 1910 in Ambleside, Cumbria, England, † 1989 in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada ) was a British professional ice hockey player in 1936 with his compatriot Olympic champion among others.

Career

John Coward emigrated as a child with his family in the Canadian Fort Frances, Ontario, from where he first played hockey. He lived there until his return to Britain in 1935, when he received a contract with the Richmond Hawks in the English National League, for which he was on the following two seasons on the ice, where he scored ten points scorer in the ENL. Then he already finished his short professional career and returned to Canada.

Because of his service to the British Ice Hockey Coward was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.

Internationally

For Great Britain, Coward took part in the World Cup 1937 and the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen.
