John Currin

John Currin ( born September 19, 1962 in Boulder, Colorado) is an American painter. He attended Carnegie Mellon University and Yale University.

Currins style is based partly on works of the Renaissance - the resemblance to the works of Lucas Cranach the Elder. is in some of his pictures clearly noticeable - and partly of modern magazines, where he often overstates the proportions of the human body grotesque. His paintings can be seen, inter alia, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Smithsonian Institution. Currins works now generate maximum prices of $ 5,458,500 (Nice 'n Easy, Sotheby's, November 2008).
