John D. Freeman

John D. Freeman (* in Cooperstown, New York, † 17 January 1886 in Cañon City, Colorado ) was an American politician. Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

The date of birth of John Freeman is unknown. He attended the common schools and later moved to Grand Gulf in Mississippi. After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in his new profession. In addition, he was district attorney. Later he moved to Natchez.

Between 1841 and 1851 was Freeman Attorney General of the State of Mississippi. In 1844 he published the first volume with the Court of Chancery Court of Mississippi. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party, whose board he served in the State of Mississippi. In 1850 he was selected in the third district of Mississippi as a Unionist in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, Freeman took over from the March 4, 1851 William McWillie; he remained there but only for a legislative period.

After his time in Congress Freeman again worked as a lawyer. In 1882, he moved to Colorado, where he settled in Cañon City and worked as a lawyer. There he died in January 1886. He was buried in Jackson.
