John Delaney (Maryland politician)

John K. Delaney ( born April 16, 1963 in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Delaney grew up in New Jersey, where his father worked as an electrician. He first studied at Columbia University in New York City. After a law degree followed at Georgetown University in Washington DC In 1993 he founded the company Healthcare Financial Partners. The company, which provides loans to small firms grew Health, rapidly and was recorded in 1998 on the New York Stock Exchange. In 2000, he founded the company CapitalSource Inc., which is now traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Politically, Delaney joined the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 2012, he was elected in the sixth electoral district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of him previously defeated Republican Roscoe Bartlett on January 3, 2013. In his election campaign he was supported, among others, by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.
