John Denham (politician)

John Yorke Denham ( born July 15, 1953) is a British Labour Party politician.

Policy

John Denham was in the government of Tony Blair UK Minister of State at the Home Office and deputy secretary David Blunkett. He resigned on 18 March 2003 in protest against the Iraq policy of the government. From June 2007 he was a member of the cabinet of the government of Gordon Brown. First Minister for Innovation and universities, he moved in a cabinet remodeling in June 2009 as the successor of Hazel Blears on the minister for local government and local politics. After the lost general election in May 2010, he had to give up this post.

He is also a member of the House and of the Privy Council.
