John Doolittle

John Taylor Doolittle ( born October 30, 1950 in Glendale, California) is an American politician. Between 1991 and 2009 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Doolittle attended until 1968, the Cupertino High School and then studied until 1972 at the University of California at Santa Cruz history. After a subsequent law degree from McGeorge School of Law University of the Pacific in Stockton and his 1978 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1981 and 1990 he was a member of the California State Senate. There he led from 1987 to 1990 the Republican faction.

Larger gained fame Doolittle, when he in 1984 a resolution brought before the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the Senate, called for the measures to the exclusion of Soviet athletes of Olympia. This had its origin in the stronger anti-Soviet sentiment in the U.S. since the launch of the Korean Airlines Flight 007 in September 1983., The Senate adopted resolution without dissent. In the congressional elections of 1990, Doolittle was in the 14th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Norman Shumway on January 3, 1991. After eight re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2009 nine legislative sessions. Since 1993 he represented there as a successor of Victor H. Fazio the fourth district of his state. He was considered a conservative MP. During his time in Congress, the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. In recent years, both Doolittle himself and to his wife with the bribery scandal surrounding Jack Abramoff were associated. His name surfaced in connection with other corruption cases. In 2008 he gave up another candidacy.
