John Drinkwater (playwright)

John Drinkwater ( born June 1, 1882 in Leytonstone, † March 25, 1937 in London ) was an English writer who was widely known for his play ' Abraham Lincoln ' in 1918. ' Mary Stuart ' and ' Oliver Cromwell ' were his other dramas.

Drinkwater also worked as a literary critic and director of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Although he belonged to the group of the Dymock Poets, the first independent band appeared with his poems ' Preludes 1921 - 1922 ' until 1923 Drinkwater, however, was present in all volumes edited by Edward Marsh collection of poems Georgian Poetry and is therefore also to the Georgian Poets counted..
