John Duigan

John Duigan ( born June 19, 1949 in Hartley Wintney, England) is an Australian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Duigan's father was a native Australians and 1961 John Duigan emigrated to Australia. He wrote the screenplays for his films always itself His debut as a director, he was in 1975 with The Firm Man, 1971, he wrote his first screenplay for the film Bonjour Balwyn. For the film drama Mouth to Mouth (1978 ) he was nominated in two categories for the Australian Film Institute Award. In 1981 followed two nominations for the same price for Winter of Our Dreams (1981); In 1987 he was awarded the AFI Award both as a director and as a screenwriter for the year of my first love (1987). Winter of Our Dreams brought Duigan also 1983 Price nomination at the International Film Festival Moscow.

The film drama Lawn Dogs - Secret Friends ( 1997) with Mischa Barton brought him the audience awards the Stockholm International Film Festival and the Athens International Film Festival as well as one prize nomination at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya, the World Film Festival and the Italian Fanta Festival. In 1998 he won for this movie the Golden Raven of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Prize of European Fantasy Film in Silver of the festival. The film drama Head in the Clouds (2004) with Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz and Stuart Townsend brought him at the 2005 Film Festival Internazionale di Milano an award in the category Best Film.

Occasionally John Duigan makes its appearance as an actor in small roles.
