John Edwards (racing driver)

John Michael Edwards ( born March 11, 1991 Louisville ) is an American race car driver.

Like most racers began his career in karting Edwards, which he held from 2001 to 2004. In addition, he gave in 2003 in the Skip Barber Formula racing series be debut and won a race. He became the youngest driver ever to win a single-seater racing. After another year in the Skip Barber series Edwards moved to Europe, where he first operation only karting in Italy in 2005. After 14 years will give the necessary license, he went to the German Formula Renault, where he finished in 13th place, and in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 at the start. 2006 Edwards denied his second season in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and he improved to 16th place overall, and he also went to the North European Formula Renault at the start and was fifth with a victory in the overall standings.

In 2007 he returned to the U.S. and played for Forsythe Championship Racing, a season in Formula Atlantic. With a second place as best result, he finished the season in ninth place overall. He was his team-mate Robert Wickens, who finished third, inferior. 2008 Edwards joined the Star Mazda Series and won with four races the championship title in this series. 2009 saw the Americans back in the Formula Atlantic and he denied its second season in this series for Newman Racing wax. Edwards decided four races for themselves and won the league title in front of Jonathan Summerton and Simona de Silvestro. Edwards and Summerton were tied to the end of the season and so decided finally the number of second places about winning the championship.
