John Finnie

John Finnie ( born December 31, 1956 in the Lochaber region ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP). Finnie attended the Achnacarry Primary School, the Lochaber High School and the Oban High School. He then trained to become police officers and was from 1976 to 2006 worked for the police.

In 2007, Finnie was elected to the Regional Council of Highland. For the first time Finnie joined the British general election, 2010 to national elections. However, in his constituency, Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, he received only the third highest number of votes and thus failed to reach the British House of Commons. In the Scottish Parliament elections of 2011, Finnie applied for a mandate for election Highlands and Islands. As a result of the election results Finnie won one of the seven regional mandates and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament. For rejection of the positive decision on Congress to join NATO in the event of secession of Scotland from the United Kingdom, Finnie met with his party colleague Jean Urquhart on October 23, 2012 from the SNP from. Both gave their time to their support for large parts of the SNP policy as a non-party parliamentarians.
