John Fleming (U.S. politician)

John Calvin Fleming ( born July 5, 1951 in Meridian, Mississippi ) is an American politician. Since 2009 he represents the state of Louisiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Fleming studied until 1973 at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He then completed at this university until 1976 to study medicine. From 1976 to 1982 he was a soldier in the U.S. Navy. In the following years, Fleming practiced as a doctor. Between 1996 and 2000 he worked as a forensic pathologist in Webster Parish, Louisiana. He also operates a range of 30 sandwich shops in northern Louisiana.

Politically, Fleming member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 2008 he was in the fourth electoral district of Louisiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Jim McCrery on January 3, 2009. In 2010, he was confirmed with 62 percent of the vote in his mandate. He can take an additional two -year term on January 3, 2011. Fleming is a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Committee, which deals with the natural resources. He is also a member of several subcommittees. Fleming is married and lives privately in Minden.
