John Francis Dodge

John Francis Dodge ( born October 25, 1864 in Niles, Michigan, † January 14, 1920 in New York) was an American automobile manufacturer.

At a young age John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin learned his brother Dodge with her father in the shop. 1886 the family moved to Detroit and the two brothers were among the best engineers in the area. After working for various industries, they received in 1901 its first automobile Ransom Eli Olds Treaty.

1907 married John Dodge Matilda Rausch ( 1883-1967 ). The family had three children, Frances (1914-1971), Daniel (1917-1938); the youngest, Anna Margaret, born in 1919, died five years.

The company produced from 1914 Dodge own cars.

Built in 1919, John Dodge for the family a palace -like house in Grosse Pointe (Michigan), Meadow Brook Hall.

He died, like his brother Horace, of the Spanish flu.

On his former estate, occupied by his widow until 1967, the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance was held for classic cars.
