John G. Alexander

John Grant Alexander (* July 16, 1893 in Texas Valley, Cortland County, New York, † December 8, 1971 in Minneapolis, Minnesota ) was an American politician. Between 1939 and 1941 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Alexander attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent law degree at Cornell University in Ithaca and its made ​​in 1916 admitted to the bar he began in 1917 in Lynd (Minnesota) to work in his new profession. During the First World War, Alexander was a soldier in an ambulance unit of the U.S. Army.

Alexander worked 1917-1923 in the banking industry. He then joined in Minneapolis in the insurance and real estate business. From 1927 to 1937 he was also a member of the National Guard of Minnesota. Politically, Alexander was a member of the Republican Party. In 1938 he was in the third electoral district of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded Henry Teigan took on 3 January 1939 he had beaten in the election. Since he was not nominated for the elections of the year 1940 by his party, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1941.

1942 ran as an independent candidate John Alexander unsuccessfully for the governorship of Minnesota. In the following years he worked again in the insurance and real estate sector. John Alexander died on December 8, 1971 in Minneapolis and was also buried there.
