John George II, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach
Johann Georg II ( born July 24, 1665 in Friedewald, † November 10, 1698 in Eisenach ) was Duke of Saxe- Eisenach and was descended from the Ernestine branch of the House of Wettin.
Johann Wilhelm was born as the son of Duke Johann Georg I of Saxe- Eisenach and his wife Johanna von Sayn- Wittgenstein. After the death of his father he became in 1686 the reigning Duke of Saxe- Eisenach. On September 20, 1688 he married in Kirchheim Sophie Charlotte ( 1671-1717 ), daughter of Duke Eberhard III. of Württemberg and his second wife Maria Dorothea Sophia of Oettingen.
He died childless at the age of 33 years of smallpox; after his death, therefore, his younger brother, Johann Wilhelm inherited the ducal throne.
