John Gobbi

John Gobbi ( born September 25, 1981 in Faido ) is a Swiss-Italian ice hockey player who is under contract with the Lausanne HC in the Swiss National League A since May 2013.

Career

Gobbi comes from the junior section of the HC Ambri -Piotta, where his parents run the stadium restaurant. After he had gone through all the junior teams of the Ticino, Gobbi came in the 1999/2000 season to his first in Fanionteam. In total, he completed 14 games that season in the first team, but so far had no point scorer.

During the 2001/2002 season Gobbi, who is considered one of the toughest defenders in the Swiss Hockey was temporarily borrowed for a total of 22 games to HC Sierre in the National League B, but returned back to his original club. The coach had the league rivals Genève -Servette HC Chris McSorley Gobbi observed for some time, this changed to the 2004/05 season in western Switzerland, where he developed into a national player. In summer 2011, he moved to the ZSC Lions. In November 2012, he returned to the end of season 2012/13 for his hometown club HC Ambri -Piotta back. For the 2013/14 season he was taken from the NLA Movers Lausanne HC under contract.

Internationally

Since 2007, Gobbi was always included in the extended squad of the national team for the respective World Championships, but missed the final cut every time and had to travel to be surplus back home. At the 2011 World Championships in Slovakia, however, be Geneva teammate Goran Bezina injured in the game against Canada at the shoulder and could no longer be used, what the Swiss national team coach Sean Simpson moved to, nachzunominieren Gobbi in the further course of the tournament.
