John H. Auer

John H. Auer ( born August 3, 1906 in Budapest, Hungary, † March 15, 1975 in North Hollywood, California ) was an American film director and producer of Hungarian descent.

John H. Auer was at a young age a child actor in Hungary. When the Habsburg Empire collapsed after the First World War, he was a brief stint in the business world. He moved in 1928 to the U.S., hoping to find work there in the film. First, Hollywood was not interested in him. Auer went to Mexico and turned there some movies that well-received by the audience and were also profitable. The critics praised his works, so that Auer received several film awards. Hollywood producers were aware of the voice talent and offered him contracts. Auer worked for various studios, he made the most of the work for Republic.

Until the 1950s, Auer Republic remained loyal and staged a series of crime thrillers and comedies on B- movie level. Unlike many other directors Auer was not only the director but was also responsible as a producer.
