John Hattie

John Hattie, born as John Allan Clinton Hattie (* 1950 in Timaru ) is a New Zealand educator. Since 2011 he is professor of education and director of the Melbourne Education Research Institute at the University of Melbourne (Australia). Previously, he was Professor of Education at the University of Auckland.

Field of work

His research is mainly concerned with factors influencing gelingende student achievement, creativity and models of teaching and learning. He is an advocate of evidence-based, quantitative research methods to investigate the effect of factors on student performance.
